Learning New Government Concepts

Today in social studies we did brain exercises by learning about the 7 government concepts and definitions, electorate is a voting district, laws a rule or set of rules, rights something we are entitled to, government the group of elected politicians who make the laws for our country, member of parliament (MP) a person who has been elected by the people in an electorate to represent them in parliament, democracy a system of government where people vote for the people they want in parliament, political party an organised group who believe in the same values and ideas.

We remembered them by reading them out loud then we talked about it with each other. We then repeated them back until they stuck so we can recall them later.

I also enjoyed speaking with my pairs. But however, I found it very challenging because we had to memorize the definitions and the that go to them.

Te Reo Maori history

in the new Zealand past before the 1980s te reo Maori started dying because everyone thought it wasn't worth teaching. the attitudes were also changing and te reo wasn't a high held value in school and it wasn't spoken.

in the 1900s te reo wasn't allowed in school and most of the Maoris were living in the country but they moved to the citie because they had to learn to speak English and only one out of five indigenous people could speak Maori. now the language is more popular nowadays and people are starting to have more pride in speaking their cultures language and there schools that are teaching Maori and rappers, poet and bands are performing with their languages.

a man named Charles royal is a teacher and story teller in school he is happy that more people are speaking te reo because hardly anyone speak te reo. in new Zealand everyone thought the Europeans history was more important than the new Zealand's history. in the schools the kids had been singing waiatas in classes and it teaches them Maori words. and it is a treasure to teach other people the Maori language.

what i learnt in science

What i learnt in science through the past term is layers of earth, plate Tectonics, volcano, earthquakes.
what i learnt wile working on the layers of the earth was that the mantle is the biggest and that the inner core is the first layer. I also learnt that there are different types of layers and each layer represents something. There are also different types of ways a earthquake could appear, some commons ways are divergent and convergent. There are also 2 types of crust, a oceanic crust and a continental crust. Also what I learnt was that earthquakes mostly occur in Christchurch because it is near most oceans and more ocean cause more earthquakes. What amazed me was hoe Tsunamis could happen after a earthquake has occur. The layers of the earth has a big role to play. For example the crust is to protect us from burning by touching the mantle. The mantle is help to bunch in the curiosity of the prolongation of the microbiology in the granulation with the structure of the specific, circulation. This is Aumaus and walters work

Empathy

What is empathy?  What i know about empathy is that people be nice to people, share respect and helping people out. So like if this school was to help the people in Christchurch we would donate money or pray but the people that mostly show empathy are the good people. Empathy is also encouraging people. Like when the gang members went to Christchurch to show their respect and communicate with the Muslims to show them that other people care.
